The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season kicks off June 1, and the annual Florida Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins May 28 and runs through Sunday, June 6. The 10-day sales tax holiday is for disaster preparedness supplies, including  flashlights, radios, tarps, batteries and generators. A full list of tax-free items is available here.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management recommends that all Floridians have a disaster supply kit with enough supplies for at least seven days.  The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1 and lasts until Nov. 30; experts are predicting an active storm season, with up to 20 named storms, 10 of which may be hurricanes. Of those, five are predicted to become major hurricanes of Category 3-5 strength. A “normal” season usually sees three major hurricanes.
