In Sarasota County, the hurricane watch has been canceled, but a tropical storm warning remains in effect for Hurricane Idalia. A tropical storm occurs when wind speeds reach 39 miles per hour.

In Manatee County, meanwhile, a hurricane warning remains in effect. Flash flooding is expected during and after the storm passes through the area, and officials warn residents to consider flooded roads as closed and to avoid them.
