The Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations is celebrating its 55th anniversary at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Michael's on East Wine Cellar, 1283 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The event benefits the council and its scholarship fund and will honor Wade Matthews, who is retiring as the environmental chair of the Sarasota Audubon Society. Tickets are $50. The council's mission is to protect the character of local neighborhoods and residents' quality of life.
