Sail away into the waters around Sarasota on a boat with Sarasota Saltwater Adventures. Join captain Casey Maloney as he welcomes you aboard his 22-foot boat, No Bad Days, a 2010 Hurricane FunDeck. These fishing charters go out weekly, and offer group or solo trips. It's a catch-and-release fishing trip that is perfect for experienced and beginner anglers, since Maloney will teach you how to bait your own hook, cast your line and enjoy the open sea.

Where

1780 Phillippi Shores Drive, Sarasota

When

Book a fishing charter for four, six or eight hours Monday through Friday. Weekend charters are also available for four hours for up to six people. "Florida Lifestyle" adventures are also available. They combine fishing, a wildlife tour and a sandbar party. These are available Monday through Friday for up to four hours. Costs ranges from $300 to $750, depending upon length of trip and the number of people on board.

What to Bring

Bring snacks and drinks, polarized sunglasses (if possible), hats, sunscreen and a camera. All safety gear, fishing gear, bait and fishing licenses are provided. A cooler with ice and extra water will also be provided.

What to Expect

When you first arrive, you can choose your charter based on your fishing experience and how many people will join. For a fun, beginner-style time with friends, consider the weekday or weekend charter, which will target redfish, snook, trout, black drum, snapper and more.

To learn more about the wildlife surrounding you while waiting for fish to bite, choose the "Florida Lifestyle" adventure. You'll spend the first half of the trip targeting species that bite easily. The second half includes shell and shark tooth hunting and relaxing on a nearby sandbar. If you are a solo fisher and consider yourself nearly pro, join the "Prospecting Trip," which gives you an inside look at how captains find the best fishing spots.
