The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation has provided $644,000 as part of its immediate Hurricane Ian relief this week, with an aim to help teachers recover from the storm and return to their classrooms while also aiding area nonprofits to provide critical help in food provisions, early learning and youth services, mental health, and other areas. Barancik Foundation staff say additional efforts will be made for longer-term recovery.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently awarded ensembleNEWSRQ a $10,000 grant, which will help support the group’s implantation of an audience development and diversification plan. The grants were issued from the Edward K. Roberts Emerging Needs Fund and the Dr. S. Carroll Buchanan Memorial Fund.

The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation has awarded its third quarter  “Small and Mighty” grants, totaling nearly $29,000 to three area nonprofits. These awards will be used for capital purchases and technology upgrades that allow the benefiting organizations to more effectively deliver their mission to the community. The recipients are La Musica Di Asolo ($9,000), Inc., Links2Success ($14,942) and Venice MainStreet, Inc. ($5,000).
