The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation board of directors has named John Annis the foundation’s president and CEO, making permanent the leadership role he has held on an interim basis since March.
“John has provided steady, thoughtful leadership during an important time for the Foundation,” Rebecca Barancik, the Barancik Foundation's board chair, said in a press release. “The board quickly saw that as interim CEO, John was so much more than a caretaker. He has already developed and enacted new ideas for moving the foundation forward, and he has provided the stability and confidence that enables our amazing team to excel at their work. With his deep respect for Margie and Chuck’s memory and his love of our community, John is the perfect fit to lead Barancik Foundation into its next chapter.”
Since assuming the interim role after former CEO John Brothers' departure from the foundation, Annis has worked with the board and staff to improve the Foundation’s operations, clarify its priorities, and strengthen relationships with nonprofit and other community partners.
“We’ve got wonderful partners. Any opportunity to continue the great work that [the Barancik Foundation] has been doing for more than a decade now is a thrill for me," Annis told us when he was named interim CEO in March.
In a statement today, he added, “I’m grateful for the confidence that the Barancik Foundation Board has placed in me, and I’m even more excited about the work ahead. My focus is on honoring Chuck and Margie’s legacy while continuing to make Barancik Foundation an even stronger and more effective philanthropic partner.”
Annis joined Barancik Foundation in 2017 as senior vice president of collaboration and impact. He brought extensive experience in philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, and community collaboration, and has spent much of his career building relationships across organizations and sectors to address community needs.
