Thirteen local students last month graduated from a training program for new machinists offered at Suncoast Technical College by Sarasota County, Sarasota County Schools and CareerEdge Funders Collaborative, a workforce development nonprofit. This is the fifth year of the program, which was created to help people learn skills that will lead them to long-term careers. This year's class brings the total number of graduates in the program to 102. Suncoast Technical College will soon begin offering an advanced manufacturing program that will allow graduates to continue their education and move forward in their careers.
