To honor the 65th anniversary of the release of the film The Greatest Show on Earth, the Sarasota Holiday Parade is celebrating with a circus-themed holiday parade that starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. With assistance from the Circus Arts Conservatory and Showfolks of Sarasota, the parade has pulled together local circus performers, stars from the 1952 film and local celebrity Bello Nock. The parade’s “Ringmaster” and John and Mable Ringling look-a-likes will usher in the 22nd annual parade, followed by Jackie LaClare, Mary Jan Miller, La Norma Fox and Willie Edleston—all stand-ins for the stars of The Greatest Show on Earth. Their appearance is a return to Main Street; they walked along the streets of Downtown Sarasota in the Circus Parade scene filmed in 1951. The parade begins at the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 301 at 7 p.m. and continues west along Main Street from there.
