The weather forecasting site AccuWeather is estimating that Hurricane Irma has caused roughly $100 billion in damages. That ranks the storm as one of the "costliest hurricanes of all time," according to the site's founder, Joel Myers. The side effects of storms such as Irma include disruptions to businesses, increased unemployment, damage to infrastructure and the loss of agricultural crops, as well as the damage to homes and businesses and the loss of property. AccuWeather estimated the total cost of Hurricane Harvey, which made landfall in Texas last month, at $190 billion.
