Americans' consumer confidence increased in August after increasing in July, as well, according to new figures released by The Conference Board, a business research firm. The firm's Consumer Confidence Index increased from 120 to 122.9 between July and August, with a large increase in consumers' perceptions of the current economic situation. The monthly survey is based on a probability-design random sample and was conducted by Nielsen.
