Manatee County drew in almost 3.1 million tourists in 2016, a 2.7 percent increase over 2015, and the total economic impact of tourism increased 7.3 percent between 2015 and last year, according to new data released last week by the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Manatee County tourism generated $49.7 million in state sales taxes in 2016, up 6 percent from 2015, while the total number of tourism-related jobs in the county increased by 2.4 percent, to 25,300.
