American retail sales increased by 0.3 percent between February and March, according to calculations released last week by the National Retail Federation.

American retail sales increased by 0.3 percent between February and March, according to calculations released last week by the National Retail Federation. The numbers exclude automobiles, gasoline stations and restaurants and are seasonally adjusted. Clothing and accessories and general merchandise saw slight gains in March, while there were declines in building materials and supplies and sporting goods.
