Tidewell Hospice, a nonprofit that operates seven hospice houses between Port Charlotte and Ellenton, has announced plans to build and operate a new hospice house in Lakewood Ranch. The building will be located at the intersection of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and Rangeland Parkway, and construction is scheduled to begin next spring. Further details will be unveiled during a press conference scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18. Tidwell's patient load increased from 7,827 in fiscal year 2009 to 8,424 in 2015.
