County Parks and Rec Department Wins Sports Tourism Award

Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department was recently awarded the Excellence in Sports Tourism Award.

Sarasota County's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department was recently awarded the Excellence in Sports Tourism Award at the Florida Recreation and Park Association's Annual Conference in Orlando. The award, which was presented by the Florida Sports Foundation, recognizes the contributions of Florida's county and municipal parks and recreation departments to sport tourism. The Sarasota Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources department hosted 79 sporting events in its facilities in 2015, resulting in a direct economic impact of more than $33 million.
