Known for its old Florida vibe and azure waters, Anna Maria Island has made national news before, so it's no surprise that the island's hip, retro Joie Inn is earning attention from NBC's Today show. We were utterly charmed by what the parents of four did to turn this four-room, 1983-built hotel into a hip, retro space that beckons a vacation getaway, and wrote about it earlier this year.

A busy mom of four, co-owner Ashley Petrone took time out to share her decor tips that turned the dated inn into a chic Gulf Coast retreat. The hands-on couple had transformed spaces and hosted short-term vacation rentals in the past. Petrone and her husband Dino lived the #rvlife and brightened Instagram feeds with their chic 180-square-foot home on wheels that they renovated and lived in for a year. Off the road, they’ve renovated multiple homes while living in them in California, and with experience as Airbnb hosts, opening a beachside Florida inn was a perfect way to settle down.

Inspired by the colors of the local shells they found on the shore, they named the four rooms The Blush Room (a pretty powder pink), The Sage Room (a light gray-green), The Terra-Cotta Room (a rich, earthy brown) and The Sun Room (a cheery yellow). Room colors are matched with tile and bedding.

It's no surprise the people at Today took notice of the Joie Inn, and blasted about this beachy oasis we love.
