Snook Haven Restaurant Will Reopen In December, Pending Sarasota County Commission Approval

Post-Hurricane Ian repairs made by the Venice Pier Group are slated to begin immediately.

Venice landmark Snook Haven is projected to reopen in December, pending Sarasota County Commission approval on Dec. 13.

After suffering extensive damage in the wake of Hurricane Ian, the iconic Myakka riverfront property, known for its live music, in undergoing repairs thanks to its family-owned operator, Venice Pier Group, which also runs Sharky's on the Pier and Fin's at Sharky's.

"After such a devastating storm, we've worked with Sarasota County and are happy to come to an agreement that allows us to bring back the Old Florida historic beauty to the restaurant," Venice Pier Group president Justin Pachota said in a press release. "We've always had a passion for running Snook Haven restaurant and we are grateful to be able to open its doors again very soon."

Patrons will see a few changes on the property due to the repairs, but can still expect great barbecue, craft beers and live entertainment, including the beloved Gulf Coast Banjo Society. The county also has plans for a remodel of Snook Haven park in 2024.
