El Toro Bravo’s chimichanga.

While we are living in such uncertain times, food provides comfort. For me, I start making pies to share slices and give people a smile, but I also rely on our abundance of wonderful restaurants, bistros, breweries and ice cream shops to get by. As they struggle to keep their doors open, let me suggest some takeout options:

El Toro Bravo

3218 Clark Road, Sarasota, (941) 924-0006,
Chef Ruben Caban is keeping his restaurant open with limited seating, but takeout Mexican and Netflix might be even better for your stress level. Remember to get extra queso and make next-day leftovers nice and cheesy. For delivery, use Bite Squad.

Michael’s on East

1212 East Ave. S., Sarasota, (941) 366-0007,
Michael's has started a curbside pick-up or delivery service that offers dinner for two or fourIn the restaurant, seats have been removed and tables are set at least six feet apart, and gift cards are on sale, as are wines in Michael's Wine Cellar.

239 S. Links Ave., Sarasota, (941) 706-4740,
Leave it to chef Steve Phelps to give us comfort plus in these times. Phelps is switching up his menu and offering a number of more affordable options. Check the restaurant's social media accounts for daily menus. The fish sandwich is always killer.

3434 Bahia Vista St., Sarasota, (941) 955-7771,
The deli is stocked with dinners and salads to go and this is your place for pies on the go. Bring unused gloves to pick up some fresh tomatoes and Florida onions at the farmstand, and be sure to grab some of the best strawberries in Florida. One stop for takeout, produce and pantry.

Tableseide to Go

Pickup at Lemon Tree Kitchen, 1289 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota, or free delivery within a 15-mile radius, (941) 552-9650, email orders to [email protected]
Tableseide Restaurant Group, the company behind Libby's, Lemon Tree Kitchen, Muse and Circo, is offering a special family-style takeout and delivery menu. The entrées feed between six and eight people and include a side and salad. Dishes include New York Strips, pizzas and pulled pork.
