Michael's on East co-proprietor Michael Klauber will be honored with the 2017 Boundary Crosser leadership award by SCOPE (Sarasota County Openly Plans for Excellence) at the nonprofit's annual celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 11. The award, created by SCOPE in 2005, honors a person who "connects people across lines that traditionally divide community." Klauber is being recognized for his work as a volunteer leader with Sarasota Bayfront 20:20, during which he brought together residents, neighborhood groups, businesses, foundations and governments to support redeveloping Sarasota's bayfront.
