Valentine's Day doesn't mean heart-shaped candy and red roses for everyone--for some, it's a painful reminder of a relationship gone wrong.

And Goodwill Manasota knows that--which is why it's launched the ultimate anti-Valentine campaign encouraging locals to "donate your ex's stuff." The tongue-in-cheek donation drive will run from February 15-29; broken-hearted donors wishing to rid themselves of their exes' possessions are invited to donate at any of the region's Goodwill locations, and you can find more info about the program here

“When someone donates clothes, jewelry, DVDs and/or sporting goods to Goodwill, they aren’t just cleansing the hurt of a failed relationship--these unwanted will be sold in Goodwill’s retail stores and support our programs to help those with barriers to employment to receive training and mentorship, and find jobs,” said Goodwill Manasota Foundation vice president Veronica Brandon Miller. “Certainly we’re having a little fun at the expense of Valentine’s Day, but the benefits derived from those seeking the pride of earning a paycheck, and the self-worth that comes with self-sufficiency, are priceless.”

In short: good riddance to that emotional baggage.
