A number of Sarasota homeowners are forming a new solar power co-op, with members using group buying power to receive a discounted price on solar panels. The group will officially launch during a gathering at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Florida House Institute, 4454 S. Beneva Road, Sarasota. The co-op is sponsored by the League of Women Voters Florida, the Sarasota Classified Teachers Association, the Sierra Club of Manatee-Sarasota, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, the Florida House Institute, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota and FL SUN.
