Sales of sea salt have been soaring for years, with foodies extolling its flavor and flaky texture. Now a new Bradenton company, Sea Salt Florida, is harvesting sea salt locally from the Gulf of Mexico. Founder Tim Norwood extracts the salt from 8,000 gallons of seawater every day. “Every waterfront location in Sarasota/Bradenton is comprised of different minerals [giving salt from each different flavors],” he says. Look for Sea Salt Florida products, which include bath and body scrubs, at The Herbarium, Cortez Maritime Museum gift shop, The Sea Hag and Island Fresh Market.
