The Sarasota City Commission on Monday unanimously approved a plan to transition to 100 percent renewable energy for municipal operations by 2030. The plan is part of the Sierra Club's Ready for 100 campaign. With the vote Monday, Sarasota became the third municipality in Florida to join the campaign and the 30th in the United States. The plan also calls for a community-wide conversion to renewable sources by 2045. For a detailed look at what climate change could mean for Sarasota and surrounding areas from our sister publication Sarasota Magazine, click here.
