Community Foundation of Sarasota County Awards $445,000 in Community Impact Grants

Plus, the U.S. Department of Transportation awards $280,000 to the City of Bradenton for road-safety initiatives, and more.

The Community Foundation of Sarasota County recently awarded $445,000 in Community Impact grants to 28 nonprofits doing critical work in a wide variety of fields, including mental and physical health, education, food insecurity and more. Of the 28 organizations awarded Community Impact grants, 10 also received Capacity Building grants, which are intended to help nonprofits increase their fundraising ability and develop strategic plans as they work toward greater long-term sustainability.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) recently awarded $280,000 to the City of Bradenton through the Safe Streets and Roads for All program to address longstanding pedestrian, bicycle and traffic safety challenges. The City of Bradenton will match 20 percent of the funding, bringing the total investment to $350,000.

 Laurel Civic Association, Inc. received a $104,100 capital grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, which will allow the civic association to advance its  "Wheels to Success" initiative, which includes the purchase of a new 77-passenger bus that will allow students have safe, reliable transportation to Laurel Civic programs. 

Second Heart Homes recently received an $84,895 capital grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, which it will use to renovate four bathrooms across two of its properties this winter.

Embracing Our Differences has received a $25,000 grant from the Bishop-Parker Foundation to support its education programming serving Manatee County students and educators. 

Florida Studio Theatre received a $5,000 grant from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation in support of FST's arts-in-education initiative, "Write a Play."

Samaritan Counseling Services has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Bishop-Parker Foundation to help increase access to affordable, licensed mental health counseling for Manatee County residents of Manatee County and support Samaritan’s intern program.

The Bishop-Parker Foundation recently awarded a $7,500 grant to Big Waters Land Trust, formerly known as Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, in support of the organization’s Community Outreach and Education Program. 

The Florida Center for Early Childhood raised nearly $600,000 at its recent Wonder Gala. The funding will be used to strengthen the center's early education, developmental therapies, and mental health services for young children and their families.

The Reinhart Foundation matched $8,906.80 in community donations to this year's Sarasota Holiday Boat Parade, bringing the total raised to more than $17,800. The funds will support local children, teens and adults with disabilities. 

Shumaker announced that it raised $4,138 for the Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC) through its Sarasota office’s annual Halloween Partner Auction.

Gettel Automotive Group recenty donated $10,000 to Beds for Kids, a faith-based nonprofit providing new twin beds, linens, teddy bears, rugs and books to children in need in Manatee County.  

HCA Florida Healthcare Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to All Faiths Food Bank.
