Bishop Museum Receives $450,000 Grant to Support Manatee Rehabilitation Work

The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature has received a $450,000 grant to support its manatee rehabilitation work from the Bishop-Parker Foundation.
Laurel Civic Association has received a $100,000 Impact Grant from the Plantation Community Foundation, completing the funding—alongside a $104,100 capital grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation—to put a new 77-passenger bus into service for students, families, adults, seniors and veterans across Central and South Sarasota County.
The Manatee Literacy Council received a $21,718 grant from the Manatee Matches Giving Circle of the Manatee Community Foundation to support and expand free adult literacy and English language programs. The council also recently received a $6,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the development of more reliable and sustainable funding streams.
The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation recently granted $120,000 to Senior Friendship Centers, which will fund the replacement of outdated parking lot lighting at its Sarasota campus.
The Florida Center for Early Childhood recently received a $12,000 grant from the Curran Family Foundation to help children with developmental delays continue receiving critical therapy services.
The Glenridge at Palmer Ranch recently awarded 23 $5,000 scholarships to staff members and their families. The recipients are Ashley-Marie Chen, Jessica Dunham, Spencer Waid, Lily McDonald, Ethan Jesse, Lana Albritton, Lexie-Ann Holgate, Xcaret Torres, Alyssa Aldridge, Andres Espinosa-Nonsoque, Camila Blasi-Greig, Audi Nepomuseno-Grez, Sophia Vance, Yadira Izquierdo, Sarai Zambrano, Keon Bryant, Giovanni Marini, Daniela Santos, Latrease Thurston, Anna Williamson, Vanesa Munoz-Duran, Jose Arends-Vasquez and Ryasia Hennessey.
