CareerEdge Receives $150,000 Grant

Florida Studio Theatre has received two grants totaling $35,000 from The Exchange, supporting both the theatre’s Cabaret Series and its nationally recognized "Write a Play" program.
La Musica recently received a $10,000 grant from The Exchange, which will
help fund the Dec. 16 encore performance of Bach's complete "Brandenburg Concertos," performed by artists from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
The Exchange also awarded ensembleNEWSRQ a $3,000 grant to support "Luna Rising: Voices of a New Generation," a concert celebrating emerging composers and new creative voices in contemporary classical music.
Sarasota attorney, businessman and philanthropist Hugh F. Culverhouse Jr. has launched a $1 million matching challenge for the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law, matching donations dollar for dollar through the end of the year.
Family Pools has announced a pro bono partnership with Big Cat Habitat Conservation and Education Center to rebuild the park’s panther den. The contributed services are valued at an estimated $250,000.
CareerEdge, the workforce development initiative led by the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, has been awarded a $150,000 grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
Children First has received $120,000 in grants from two local foundations to support its services for children and families in Sarasota County: $70,000 from the McCune Family Foundation and $50,000 from the Dr. Samir M. Shafie Charitable Foundation.
The Education Foundation of Sarasota County received a charitable gift of $115,000 from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to strengthen the Education Foundation’s services, including helping students navigate challenges, graduate from high school and transition into postsecondary education, training, military service and careers.
Embracing Our Differences has received a $50,000 Empowering Arts grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation to support its year-round arts education programs and annual outdoor exhibition.
Sarasota Opera has been awarded a $12,500 grant from the Community
Foundation of Sarasota County's Joseph and Sylvia Bloom Unrestricted Fund to support consultant fees for the organization’s strategic planning process. The opera also received a $30,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County in support of its Sarasota Youth Opera, education programs and the company’s Aficionado Dinner.
