Climate Adaptation Center Announces First Conference

Sarasota's Climate Adaptation Center recently announced its first-ever climate forecast conference, which will be held on Nov. 19, 2021, at the University of South Florida's Sarasota-Manatee campus. The conference will look forward to the years 2030, 2040 and 2050; topics will include the frequency of hurricanes and their characteristics, including intensity, duration and storm surge; the outlook for red tide, including duration and impact on human health; sea level rise; day and night temperatures; the issue of low-probability, high-impact events; and investments and investing in light of forecasts.
The climate forecast will be updated annually and aims to provide decision-making guidance for industry, academia and local and state governments. Registration opens soon; learn more here.
