The Venice Cat Coalition, a nonprofit spay-neuter organization based in Venice, recently received a $12,000 grant from the Helen C. Schwieder Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The funding will be used to to help with veterinary care, medicine and other support that is targeted to save more than 300 cats and kittens this year. The 2021 grant is twice the amount awarded in 2020 by the same funders for feline medical assistance, which was spent in caring for and placing into safe homes approximately 400 cats and kittens.
