Where are you now?

“I continue to work with the Boxser Diversity Initiative to produce programs promoting diversity and inclusion.  These include programs such as ‘The Freedom Riders, Would you Get on the Bus?’ and ‘The Language of Racism & Intolerance.’ I am a founding member of the Visions of the Black Experience Film Festival and a number of other programs. Presently we are spearheading a program, together with Newtown Alive, The Sarasota African American Cultural Center and ASALH Manasota, to bring a lynching marker to Sarasota-Manatee.”

Biggest challenge

“Not having the personnel to do all what we would like to be doing. Sarasota is very welcoming to our endeavors to promote a better understanding of our diverse community.”

How can we bring people together?

“More communication amongst different groups.”

Are you hopeful?

"I am not too optimistic regarding the division here.  It will take a lot of compromise and mutual understanding to do this.”
