Suncoast Charities for Children has announced that it will transition from being the primary organizer of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix. This decision was recently approved by its board, as part of a restructuring strategy due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organizations says the move will help it better align with its fundraising mission of providing support to children, teens, and adults with special needs, including focusing on special event fundraisers county-wide that offer a lower overhead, increase the amount of money granted, and decrease demand on staff and volunteer resources. Suncoast Charities for Children will continue to organize all of the festivities around the race. P1, the sanctioning organization for the Powerboat Grand Prix, will continue its role as race promoter in partnership with Visit Sarasota, which includes race management, and production and distribution of a 60-minute international television show together with live streaming. Next year's race will be held at the end of June.
