The Sarasota City Commission on Tuesday voted 4-1 in favor of Selby Gardens’ request to approve a zoning text amendment that will enable the organization to move forward with its Compromise Master Plan. It is the first in a series of steps for the organization to receive full approval for its application for its downtown Sarasota campus. The decision allows the gardens to codify its entire 15-acre downtown parcel as a botanical garden. A site plan will be presented to the city commission in early 2021.
