Morton’s Gourmet Market has donated $25,000 to All Faiths Food Bank to help those suffering from hunger in the community. The donation is part of $500,000 matching gift from the Joe and Mary Kay Henson Family Fund, plus an additional $100,000 from an anonymous donor through the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. All donations made to the food bank will be matched up to $600,000—meaning that through the matching funds, the Morton’s grant could grow to $50,000. The gifts will allow the Food bank to provide meals to participants in the programs; since the pandemic began in March, All Faiths has seen an overall increase in need of approximately 120 percent, with new clients increasing by nearly 45 percent. The food bank says demand for food will remain critically high as people continue to face significant financial strain.
