America's median household income grew by 3.2 percent between 2015 and 2016 and the percentage of those in poverty declined by .8 percent, according to new figures released by the United States Census Bureau on Tuesday. Median household income in 2016 was $59,039, up from $57,230 in 2015, the second consecutive annual increase. The number of Americans in poverty declined by 2.5 million between 2015 and 2016. The percentage of people without health insurance also dropped, from 9.1 percent to 8.8 percent.
