On Monday, Jan. 9, the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations will host a discussion of how to prevent opportunistic crimes. Sarasota Police Department officer Cherie McKeon will provide a detailed presentation on the most effective ways to prevent common crimes, and Kathy Kelley Ohlrich, the retiring chair of the Sarasota Coalition of City Neighborhoods, will present information about her experience in combating opportunistic crimes in her former Ohio community. The meeting begins with social time at 6:30 p.m.; the program begins at 7. The meeting will be held at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota.
