Fast food workers in Minnesota call for a $15 minimum wage

A new report published by Florida International University's Research Institute on Social & Economic Policy finds that 65 percent of Floridians earn less than the state's average annual salary, $39,099, and half earn less than $28,236. "While half of the working population earns annual salaries below $28,236 the average is considerably higher than the median because of the presence of some high salary earners," according to report author Alí Bustamente. "Florida’s women and racial and ethnic minorities comprise the majority of workers below the state average because they are largely concentrated towards low and middle earnings while white males are more representative of the upper earnings group."
