A new report published by Florida International University's Research Institute on Social & Economic Policy finds that 65 percent of Floridians earn less than the state's average annual salary, $39,099, and half earn less than $28,236.

Florida's minimum wage of $8.05 an hour is too low to lift families out of poverty, leaves workers unable to afford health insurance and is not high enough to offset work-related expenses like child care, according to a new report.
