The Butcher's Block—North Sarasota's legacy butcher, and grab-and-go cheese and wine shop, which has been open since 1967—is hosting its 13th annual Grand Tent Tasting on Saturday, Jan. 24, at its 17th Street shop.
Beginning at 2 p.m., attendees will have access to over 100 different wines from winemakers located around the world. Included with the event's $175 ticket price is a $100 wine voucher for The Butcher's Block, a souvenir Riedel wine glass, complimentary parking and plenty of snacks from the shop and area restaurants. Big Green Egg grilling champion Paul Stanley will also be in attendance, showcasing his skills on the ceramic grill with meat from DemKota Beef Ranch in South Dakota. Tickets are currently available and traditionally sell out quickly.
"Every year this tasting reminds me why I love what I do," says Scott McGowan, owner of The Butcher's Block. "We get together with winemakers, winery owners, and wine professionals who bring the spirit of their vineyards and cellars with them, and the energy is incredible. The food, the wines, the conversations all blend into an afternoon people talk about long after the tent comes down."
