Lila's Vegetarian Breakfast Sandwich
A delicious vegetarian option for a hand-held breakfast is at Lila. This one is an open-face Scandinavian style of preparation. A thick slab of house-made toasted Danish rye bread is layered with smashed avocado seasoned with salt and lime and then topped (or on the side) with house-made pickled onion and radish. Tangy, creamy, crunchy and refreshing. $11.

For something unusual while vacationing on Siesta Key, you want a breakfast sandwich specialty at Sun Garden Cafe. Between two halves of a multigrain bagel are turkey sausage, avocado, dried figs, tomato and sprouts, moistened and held together with egg and basil pesto. It’s called the Bikini Bagel and promises to be both healthy and hearty at $9.95.
