The Historical Society of Sarasota County will present a lecture titled "The Boys of Spring" about the history of Grapefruit League spring training in our area, and the impact this annual Major League Baseball ritual has had on Sarasota’s economy, culture, tourism and sports history. Jeff LaHurd, Historical Society board member and author of the book Spring Training in Sarasota, 1924-1960, will lead the discussion. The event will take place Tuesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. at Crocker Memorial Church; the lecture is open to the public and free for Historical Society members and students or $10 for guests.
