Hospital Celebrates 'Topping Out' for New Rehab Pavilion
Sarasota Memorial Hospital leaders and members of its construction team celebrated a milestone on Friday: the official “topping out” of its new five-story Rehabilitation Pavilion. The final beam, signed by members of the construction and hospital team, was raised to the roof of the new pavilion, part of a ritual that signifies the construction project has reached its highest point, in this case 72 feet. When complete in December, the 74,000-square-foot pavilion will replace the hospital’s 30-year-old inpatient rehab unit located on the ninth and 10th floor of the hospital’s east wing.
