Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation recently awarded seven grants, totaling more than $700,000, to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The funds will be used to help enhance patient outcomes and physician satisfaction, and provide resources to under-served members of the community.

$449,344 helped purchase urology video systems for the operating room. These video systems include high-definition equipment that provides better quality images and higher reliability, helping enhance patient outcomes in urological procedures.

$98,543 will help purchase Devicor-NeoProbes. The Bluetooth probes will replace current probes used in breast biopsy procedures. B

$29,673 helped purchase Stryker Lifepak 20e defibrillators and monitors. These monitors are used to help treat patients with Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib) and correct irregular heart rhythms. 

$27,401 will be used to purchase new equipment for outpatient rehabilitation services at SMH’s Rehabilitation Pavilion, thanks to a donation from the Hurlburt Foundation. This grant will provide additional equipment to allow therapists to serve an increasing number of patients.

$100,000 was provided to gastroenterology services at the new SMH Endoscopy Center at its Hillview facility. The funds will help purchase new patient-monitoring equipment used at the bedside of patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.

$15,000 was granted to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation to provide funds to help patients and their families with non-medical, essential daily-living expenses.

$24,750 helped support the Early Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program through the International Society of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention. The grant will fund approximately 150 participants in a cardiac study focused on early detection and risks factors.
