The Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is hosting its first community-wide meeting in Newtown at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, to share information about its new Internal Medicine Residency Program and nearly complete Internal Medicine Practice under construction there. Attendees can learn more about the physicians who will be staffing the Newtown practice and their mission to reduce racial health disparities in the medically underserved area. The practice is slated to open the first week in July and will be able to provide primary care to as many as 1,800 new patients in its first year, especially those with chronic health issues. The meeting takes place at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St., Sarasota.
