Cycling near the beach has always been a great outdoor exercise in Florida, but what if you're looking for a mode of transportation that allows you to sit back and enjoy the view instead? Try riding an electric bike from Endless Summer SRQ eco-tours and rentals. The company has three electric bike tours, with one that takes place during the magic hour on the Siesta Key beach. Electric bikes are easy and fun to ride and are perfect for all levels of experience. Enjoy a photo-op and picnic on the beach after the tour.

Where

Clayton's Siesta Grille, 1256 Old Stickney Point Road, Sarasota (near beach access 12 on Siesta Key)

When

Sunset tours are offered daily at 7 p.m. Tours are open to ages 16 and up, and tickets cost $50 per person. Reserve your tour date and time online. If you wish to take a ride during the day, Endless Summer SRQ delivers rental electric bikes to Myakka River State Park and the Legacy Trail. Rent a bike from anywhere from one to eight hours; the cost ranges from $25 to $75.

What to Bring

Bring a helmet. Electric bikes are built with wide, strong tires, making it easy to bike over any terrain. This means you can even wear sandals while biking on the beach. Bring a towel or beach blanket for after the tour, or wear a swimsuit to jump in the water. Don't forget your phone or camera to snap some sunset selfies.

What to Expect

After meeting at beach access 12 on Siesta Key, a quick tutorial will be given on how to ride the bikes safely. Then the hour-long tour begins along the white sand. There's no need to pedal away. The bike's five-level pedal assist and on-demand throttle make it easy to ride on the street or sand. Guides will take photos of your group throughout the tour, or stop to take your own. After the tour, a picnic of fruit, cheese and wine is provided on the beach.
