Siesta Beach has a way of making those who make the pilgrimage to its shores as devotional as it does territorial. We want to shout its praises as much as we want to close the gates and keep this little slice of paradise to ourselves. The quartz-crystal sand, turquoise water and ever-evolving cast of eclectic sights—including its groovy drum circle—make Siesta Beach both quintessentially Sarasota and a world of its own.
“For generations, Siesta Beach has created a connection formed through endless recreation, celebrations, relaxing moments, and thousands of beautiful sunsets, each unique in design,” says Jonathan Poyner, beaches and water access manager for Sarasota County. “It has long served as a gathering place for building community, appreciating the natural world and finding peace. The recognition as one of Sarasota’s most beloved public spaces reflects the special place it holds in the hearts of residents, visitors and people from all over the world.”
