Scientists at Mote Aquaculture Research Park recently launched a new study on how to farm almaco jack fish. On Wednesday, researchers collected their first samples and data from Gulf of Mexico almaco jack collected this spring and now housed in Mote’s sustainable, recirculating aquaculture system. The Mote scientists hope to help the aquaculture industry produce healthy juvenile almaco jack in land-based farms to supply offshore cage farms, a possible new opportunity for Gulf-based aquaculture.
