Manatee County Recognized for Cutting Energy Use

Manatee County has reduced its kilowatt hours nearly 7 percent over the past five years.

The Florida Green Building Coalition this week recognized Manatee County with its platinum certification honors, making the county the first county government in Florida to achieve platinum status. Manatee County achieved its first Green Government recognition in 2011 and reached the gold certification level by 2013. In recent years, the county's Green Team lead an effort to increase energy efficiencies and streamline energy costs. Manatee County has reduced its kilowatt hours nearly 7 percent over the past five years.
