At Selby Gardens, illustrator John Pirman spotted two girls scaling the massive Moreton Bay fig tree next to the Children’s Rainforest Garden. He says he admires the flowing form of the tree’s “magnificent” buttress roots. “They create partitions above ground that swoop and curl on top of one another, anchoring the huge tree trunks,” he says.
