U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro announced Wednesday that public housing developments in the U.S. will now be required to provide a smoke-free environment for residents.
According to data released by the housing research firm Metrostudy, 1,492 single-family home units were started in the Sarasota and Bradenton area during the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 17.6 percent compared to the year before.
The discussion will include Sarasota County's Allen Parsons, Jon Thaxton of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, developer Harvey Vengroff and Rob Young of the Sarasota Young Professionals Group.
