Sarasota Orchestra Seeks Community Input About Its Future

We want your input for a Music Center Survey.

Presented by Sarasota Orchestra October 27, 2022

In March, Sarasota Orchestra announced it entered into a purchase agreement for the land where it plans to build its new music center, reaching a milestone to meet a significant need for expansion.

Anyone with an interest in the Orchestra and its plans for the music center is encouraged to participate in the online survey, open now through Nov. 18.

In its community engagement process to develop a masterplan for the site, the Orchestra distributed a survey to collect feedback about its music center and how it might better serve the community – both now and in the future.  Sarasota Orchestra believes community input is critical to creating a music center that fulfills the diverse needs of the vibrant and growing Southwest Florida region.

“This is an exciting time for the future of arts and culture in our region,” said Sarasota Orchestra Board Chair Tom Koski. “It’s our goal to build upon the rich arts and cultural history of this very special place we call home, and we can only succeed in that mission with the support and valuable input from our community.”

Located on Fruitville Road between Honore Avenue and Cattlemen Road, the Orchestra’s future 32-acre site will house new and increased performance, education, event and outdoor space to accommodate more concert dates, and enable greater participation in Sarasota Orchestra’s youth programs, which are currently at capacity.

The music center’s focal point will be a concert hall with acoustics unlike any existing or planned performance space in the area.
