Presented by Forty Carrots Family Center September 8, 2021

MISSION: We envision a future where all children are raised in homes where they are loved, nurtured and protected, where they are physically and emotionally safe, and given every opportunity to learn so they can grow into capable, responsible and respectful young people.

 ABOUT US

  • Preventing child abuse and neglect and other childhood traumas.
  • Providing parents/guardians and caregivers with information, skills, and support to better equip them in raising children.
  • Promoting positive relationships between parents/guardians, caregivers and their children.
  • Promoting healthy child development in social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive growth.
  • Serving 3,393 clients last year, with 94 percent of those services offered at no or low cost.

Good beginnings that last a lifetime

Founded in 1993, Forty Carrots has helped more than 40,000 families in Sarasota and Manatee counties through its Parenting Education, Mental Health services, and Early Childhood Education programs. The early years of life are crucially important to the overall development of our children and therefore offer unprecedented opportunities to provide experiences that have lifelong positive impact.

Forty Carrots works with families from all walks of life, regardless of ability to pay. Working with our network of 26 community partners throughout the two counties, we reach our most vulnerable children and families working to break generational cycles of negative life outcomes. Supporting families with knowledge, skills, and resources to build strong healthier relationships with their children, positively impacts a child’s capacity for future learning and success.

THE NEED FOR FORTY CARROTS:

  • 56 percent of babies in Sarasota are born into poverty (First 1,000 Days)
  • One in five American children suffers from a diagnosable mental, emotional or behavior disorder (CDC)
  • More than 60 percent of people in drug rehabilitation centers report being abused or neglected as a child (Project Prevention)
