Mikael and Karen Hansen, owners of Copenhagen Imports on South Tamiami Trail, connected with Resurrection House many years ago through their church, Church of The Palms , and liked the fact that it is an all-faiths organization lending a helping hand to those in need in our community. Resurrection House has been serving Sarasota’s homeless population in the heart of the Rosemary District for decades, providing a wide range of services including, but not limited to, showers, laundry, counseling, medical treatments, veterans assistance, food, and clothing.
Through an annual in-store charity promotion, the Hansens have raised $45,000 over the past seven years, and they find comfort knowing that 100% of those donated dollars go directly to Resurrection House’s mission, unlike with other larger national nonprofits. That’s a lot of warm meals, hot showers, and counseling sessions for those experiencing homelessness—and at a time when our community has seen an unprecedented need.

With the Charity Event, customers who donate $50 or more to Resurrection House will earn an immediate rebate of up to $600 on their purchase of famous Stressless brand furniture. Explore the gorgeous upholstery, recliners, or dining chairs in beautiful glove-soft leathers or rich textiles, and be part of this long-standing local event. While online shopping can be great, it won’t have an impact on our local economy or help out disadvantaged members of our community. Remember, when we support our local business owners, we contribute to a thriving Sarasota.
Plus, the Stressless brand is one that will last a lifetime. Its Scandinavian craftsmanship is a legacy, handed down generation after generation. There’s a short video you can watch here to learn more. Copenhagen Imports carries only the original Stressless chairs, loveseats, and sofas, so if you’re looking for sustainably constructed, extremely comfortable, fashion-forward furniture, go visit them this holiday season.

If you’re lucky, you might also be greeted by Polaris, the store’s black Labrador adopted from another fantastic nonprofit, Sarasota’s Southeastern Guide Dogs. It’s a feel-good shopping experience from start to finish.
